Paul Royer Gaspard joined Hydroclimat in 2025 as a hydraulic engineer, specialising in 1D/2D hydraulic modelling applied to river and urban flooding. An engineer from ENSTA with a PhD in hydrology from INRAE, he has participated in research projects for Vigicrue and combines scientific rigour with IT expertise to understand and anticipate surface flow dynamics.
Paul Royer Gaspard has solid experience in the development and implementation of operational hydraulic simulation tools. He uses specialised software such as HEC-RAS, TELEMAC and LISFLOOD on a daily basis, as well as GIS tools (QGIS, ArcGIS) and programming languages (Python, MATLAB).
At Hydroclimat, Paul Royer Gaspard works on hydraulic and hydrological modelling projects at various scales, in France and internationally. In particular, he works on mapping flood-prone areas, incorporating the effects of climate change, developing indicators related to runoff hazards, and conducting impact studies for flood risk management.
His expertise strengthens the ability of regions to anticipate and adapt to the intensification of extreme water-related events.
