Miguel Calpe Linares joined Hydroclimat’s Water team in 2026 as a Research Engineer in River Hydraulics and Flood Risk, as part of a collaboration with UMR ESPACE 7300 CNRS.
A graduate of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya with an engineering degree and a PhD in Fluid Mechanics from Université Grenoble Alpes, he specializes in scientific computing applied to geosciences, numerical flow modeling, and high-performance computing.
At Hydroclimat, Miguel contributes to the development of the Flood-FRAME project, which focuses on improving the modeling and mapping of riverine and pluvial flooding at different spatial scales.
His work includes processing topographic and hydrographic data, developing rainfall-runoff models adapted to catchments prone to flash floods, and implementing hydraulic models to simulate water flows and flood-prone areas across large territories.
He also contributes to the development of flood mapping validation methods, as well as the automation and optimization of simulation workflows using scientific programming, numerical computing, and geospatial data processing tools.
Through his research, Miguel helps develop methods to better understand, map, and anticipate flood risks in the context of climate change, with the aim of translating scientific advances into robust, operational tools that support territorial climate adaptation and flood risk prevention.
