Job description
Would you like to play a central role in the realization of high-impact hydroinformatics projects?
If you’re motivated to build a more resilient future for water resources, with tools that take climate change into account, then join us!
We are looking for a hydroinformatics engineer, whose main mission will be to develop and implement operational tools in the water sector for regions in France and abroad.
Your missions:
- Development of water science programming tools
- Hydraulic modeling of watercourses
- Hydrological modeling of watersheds
- Development of methods and tools for flood and runoff hazard assessment
- Mapping flood zones under climate change conditions
- Implementation of modeling tools in France & internationally
- Technical report writing.
Depending on your profile, other types of assignments may be added to the activities described above.
At the same time, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the company’s internal activities in terms of :

Qualifications
PhD or engineering degree in computer science, water science, energy or hydroinformatics. Ideally, you will have initial professional experience in the development of operational tools in the field of river hydraulics and hydrology.
You have a :
- Fluent in computer programming (Python, matlab, R).
- Familiarity with 1D/2D hydraulic models (HEC-RAS, LISFLOOD, TELEMAC, etc.)
- Good command of GIS software (Qgis, ArcGis, etc.)
- Knowledge of the challenges and constraints of operational hydrometeorological modeling.
- Interest in water and climate change issues.
Plus points:
- Good knowledge of national climate and water databases;
- Good knowledge of the university environment and research methods;
- Knowledge in other water-related fields: hydrogeology and hydromorphology, etc…
- Complementary skills in the field of climate ;
- Skills or interest in working on other departmental themes, in support of project managers;
Abilities :
- Strong motivation and work capacity;
- Intellectual and scientific rigor;
- High autonomy ;
- Intellectual agility, creative and innovative thinking;
- Curious, able to analyze and summarize, organized;
- Good teamwork skills;

Further information:
- Start date: March 2025
- Location: Aubagne (15min by TER from Marseille center) in a young and dynamic team
When you join Hydroclimat, we offer you an attractive remuneration package,
- Gratification / Remuneration: depending on experience between 35 and 55 K€.
- Home working in accordance with company agreement (1 day a week)
- Family health insurance, meal card & 50% reimbursement of transport pass

Your missions :
We are looking for a data analysis and weather and climate modelling engineer, whose main tasks will be to :
- Collect, process and analyze weather and climate ensemble simulations;
- Calculate climate indicators from multiple specific variables;
- Develop composite indicators for trade-specific climatic hazards;
- Implement modeling tools in France and abroad;
- Produce technical documentation and summaries.
Depending on your profile and our customers’ requirements, other types of assignment may be added to the above, particularly for climate resilience projects.
At the same time, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the company’s internal activities in terms of :

Qualifications
Your assets :
PhD or engineering degree in atmospheric sciences, meteorology, climatology or physical oceanography from ENM, ENSTA, UMPC, IPSL, LSCE, or CNRM.
You have a :
- Scientific programming skills (Python, C, Shell, matlab)
- Extensive expertise in extreme value statistics
- Very good knowledge of climate modeling and its main principles
- Excellent ability to handle multiple climatic variables (precipitation, temperature, wind, pressure, radiation, etc.).
- Knowledge of the challenges and constraints of operational weather and climate modeling
- Interest in climate modeling and climate change topics.
Plus points:
- Good knowledge of major weather and climate databases (CMIP5/6, C3S, ISIMIP, EXPLORE2, TRACC, etc.).
- Good knowledge of the university environment and research methods;
- Knowledge of other areas of climate: atmospheric dynamics, univariate/multivariate bias correction methods, etc.
- Machine learning and deep learning skills
- Complementary skills in the field of climate change ;
- Skills or interest in working on other departmental themes, in support of project managers;
Abilities :

- High autonomy ;
- Intellectual agility, creative and innovative thinking;
