We are looking for an AI developer in climate sciences, whose main tasks are as follows:

  • Design and implement algorithms for analyzing and modeling climate data.
  • Develop weather and climate data processing tools and pipelines.
  • Work on optimizing forecasting models and statistical analysis methods.
  • Collaborate with climatology experts to translate scientific needs into high-performance technological solutions.
  • Develop data visualization and exploration interfaces to facilitate interpretation of results.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of research and development tools, ensuring their robustness and scalability.

Qualifications

  • Degree in computer science, applied mathematics, data science or related field, with specialization in climatology or environmental science appreciated.
  • Significant experience in software development and data analysis, ideally applied to climate science.
  • Strong analytical skills and an appetite for solving complex problems involving environmental data.
  • Autonomy, rigor and team spirit to evolve in a multidisciplinary environment.

Technical skills

  • Programming languages: Excellent command of Python for climate data analysis and modeling. Knowledge of JavaScript (for data visualization), R, or low-level languages (C/C++ for performance) is a plus.
  • Data processing and analysis: Experience in handling large climate datasets (netCDF, HDF5, GRIB, Parquet, Zarr) and using scientific libraries (Polars, NumPy, Pandas, Xarray, SciPy).
  • Modeling and Machine Learning: Expertise in statistical and deep learning (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) applied to environmental data
  • GIS and data visualization: Good understanding of Geographic Information Systems (QGIS, GDAL, GeoPandas) and visualization tools (Matplotlib, Plotly, D3.js).
  • Development and deployment: Experience in putting algorithms into production on the cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) with tools such as Docker and Kubernetes would be a plus.
  • Working methods: Knowledge of software development best practices (Git, CI/CD, unit testing, documentation) and agile methods (Scrum, Kanban).
